Frazier started out as a lawyer and has taught trial advocacy in South Africa. He joined MSD’s public affairs division as a general counsel in 1992, and became CEO in 2011. He will retire from the role of CEO as of June 30, 2021, but will continue to serve as an executive chairman on the board of directions for a transition period. “It has been a privilege to serve as Merck’s CEO for the past decade and to work with the most dedicated and talented employees and management team in the industry,” Frazier said in a company statement.
