Founder and Director, Immunic Therapeutics
Daniel co-founded Immunic in 2017 and served as CEO until May 2026, guiding the company from early development into a late-stage clinical biotech focused on oral small molecule therapies for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. A chemist by training, he has helped shape Immunic’s scientific strategy around vidofludimus calcium, an investigational therapy designed to combine Nurr1 activation for neuroprotection with selective DHODH inhibition for anti-inflammatory effects.
In February 2026, Immunic closed a private placement financing of up to $400 million, including $200 million upfront, to support completion of the Phase 3 ENSURE trials in relapsing multiple sclerosis, initiation of a Phase 3 program in primary progressive MS, and preparations for a potential commercial launch. Daniel has since moved from day-to-day operations into a founder and board role, where he continues to support the company’s scientific direction.
“What might surprise my younger self the most is the entrepreneurial journey and how far it has progressed, including building a team of nearly 100 people at Immunic, advancing a late-stage development pipeline, and approaching milestones such as a clinical Phase 3 readout. Becoming a CEO was not the original goal, but in hindsight it feels like a natural extension of my journey, combining scientific curiosity with the opportunity to build, lead, and drive a company. I have always followed my credo: do what you enjoy, and work becomes so fulfilling that it never really feels like work.”
