It’s Live: The Medicine Maker x DNDi Podcast
The 6 episode miniseries “DNDi: Medicine Makers Without Borders” will take listeners behind the scenes of a range of projects at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative
| News
Here at The Medicine Maker, we admire the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative and the work they do. That’s why we are extremely excited to announce that we have put together a podcast mini series on the DNDi and its efforts to lift the burden of disease in low-and-middle-income countries.
In the series, our Associate Editor Angus Stewart speaks with DNDi leaders, coordinators, partners, and contributors working in the clinic, the lab, and even at the computer terminals of cutting edge tech and AI. They’ll be guiding us through a range of DNDi’s open source missions to beat mycetoma, leishmaniasis, and COVID-19 – to name just a few of the diseases in the Swiss nonprofit organization’s crosshairs.
The journey will be global: Angus’ conversations will take us from universities in Thailand and offices in Brazil to the clinics of Kenya and Sudan, and the tech startups of London and California. The conversations will be frank and informative, but they’ll be fun and friendly too. The thinkers, allies, and laboratorians of DNDi are not only lovely people – they are motivated, passionate, and have a great deal to say.
In our very first episode, Angus spoke to DNDi’s founder, Executive Director, and all-round fearless leader Bernard Pécoul to ask the fundamental questions: who are the DNDi, and what do they stand for? We learned from Bernard that one of DNDi’s most important missions is to prove that alternative methods to the science and business of drug discovery are possible, viable, and replicable. In the subsequent episodes, we will see how this plays out in the projects DNDi has set up, and the partnerships it has nurtured.
