Rick Bright
CEO, Pandemic Prevention Institute, The Rockefeller Foundation
With decades worth of experience under his belt, Bright joined the Pandemic Prevention Institute (PPI) at The Rockefeller Foundation in 2021. He leads the development of the Foundation’s pandemic data-to-action platform, which in collaboration with global partners, integrates modern technology, and data analytics to lessen the threat from emerging and future infectious diseases. He has also held government positions. Prior to his current appointment, he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response and the Director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), in the US Department of Health and Human Services. He also received the Charles C. Shepard Science Award for Scientific Excellence for his work on vaccine, therapeutics, and diagnostics development at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
