It will be an early finish today; the conference wraps up at 12:15, giving you until 14:00 to finish browsing the exhibition or attend last-minute meetings. I’m looking forward to the drug delivery sessions at the conference. There’s a huge trend right now towards truly patient-centric devices that can be used at home (or anywhere), and increasing conversations around on-body delivery systems. The industry owes it to patients to get this right.

As personalized medicines and on-body delivery systems proliferate, pharmaceutical and biotech companies are looking to source platforms for homecare treatments. As it relates to pharma manufacturing, most on-body devices utilize larger, ready-to-use cartridges that present challenges for fill and finish operations. The final two speakers of the event will provide recommendations.
Aprés-Sci
Whatever the weather, the metropolis is striking. Why not wrap up your visit with a stroll around Central Park and meet Balto – the brave sled dog that brought diphtheria antitoxin medicines to the children of Alaska during an epidemic in 1925? The statue proudly stands at the southwestern edge, just off 5th Ave. Although there is speculation around whether Balto actually led the sled team, the statue honors all sled dogs that faced challenging conditions over an almost 700 mile journey. Talk about drug delivery!

With the final day of the show featuring a number of sessions on drug delivery devices, we thought you might be interested in this article by Hilde Viroux, Medtech Expert at PA Consulting: “The distinction between the pharma and medical device industries is blurring. For some therapies, delivery of the drug can be crucial to ensure reliable patient outcomes.”
