New and Improved
New technologies in our Innovation Awards… and an expanded editorial team!
This month we present The Medicine Maker’s inaugural Innovation Awards. We received nominations from all areas of pharmaceutical development and compiled the shortlist with help from our highly respected (but anonymous) judging panel. Check out the Top 10 here.
Of course, just like the Power List (https://themedicinemaker.com/the-power-list-2015), we don’t expect you to agree with all our selections. Dissent is welcome, even encouraged! But we hope the Innovation Awards play a part in our mission to celebrate the industry for the things it gets right, as well as analyzing how and why things go wrong.
As the year draws to a close, it is traditional to reflect on what has gone before and to make new resolutions for the year ahead. As our first full year of publication draws to a close, I like to think that we have made good progress on the three key aims I laid out in our very first issue: first, to tell stories, second, to help you in your daily working life and third, to engage with you, the reader. This month’s issue is a case in point, featuring not only our reader-nominated Innovation Awards, but also the story behind Power List awardee Raman Singh’s rise to the top, and a practical guide to helping your company navigate the sometimes choppy waters of PR.
It’s been hugely rewarding to hear how much you have enjoyed the fresh approach that we are taking, and to hear your thoughts about the magazine by email, through social media and in person at conferences and shows throughout the year. We hope to give you plenty more opportunities to air your views next year.
A new year is also a time to look to the future. January will see the launch of Texere Publishing’s newest magazine – The Translational Scientist (www.thetranslationalscientist.com). I have been lucky enough to be involved in this new launch since its inception, and I will be taking on the role of Editor. I will still keep one foot in The Medicine Maker camp, but will be handing the running of the magazine to the new Editor – Stephanie Sutton. Many of you will already know Stephanie – she is currently Deputy Editor of The Medicine Maker and has spent almost nine years covering the field of pharmaceutical manufacturing. She is a hugely talented editor, a champion of the field and has already played a key role in the direction of The Medicine Maker – who better to take the helm as we enter the uncharted waters of 2016?
Stephanie will tell you more about what we have coming up next year in her January editorial, and for now I wish you happy holidays and all the best for 2016.
As an Editor at Texere, I’m working closely with our audience to create vibrant, engaging content that reflects the hard work and passion that goes into bringing new medicines to market. I got my start in biomedical publishing as a commissioning editor for healthcare journals and have spent my career covering everything from early-stage research to clinical medicine, so I know my way around. And I can’t think of a more interesting, challenging or important area to be working in.
