Solubilization challenges need new ways of bringing chemistry and engineering knowledge together

In the Pharmaceutical industry, more than 70% of new drugs developed are poorly water soluble, which means that the human body can hardly adsorb them. This represents one of the major challenges of the industry.

It was BASF and its team of experts - including Andreas Gryczke - who have used the combination of chemistry and process technology know-how to establish a simple and efficient solution for this issue. Hot Melt Extrusion, a technology well-known from the plastics industry, helps to enable pharmaceutical companies to literally solve their solubilization issue.
