“Meeting my mentor, Theodore H. Meltzer, in 1991 at a filtration conference in London was a pivotal moment. He opened my scientific mind and encouraged me to share my experience through writing, presenting and getting engaged in expert groups. He also introduced me to the PDA – and my 20 year membership widened my knowledge horizon tremendously.”
Predictions
“I believe we will see further bioprocess intensification, and smaller footprint facility needs – leading to more flexible facility assets. We need to be able to implement new technologies – whether process or facilities – more rapidly, which requires global regulatory action. Moreover, new, innovative personalized therapies are being explored and launched, which will change facility and process designs due to the need for higher aseptic processing standards. These new therapies will also challenge final product release criteria, including regulatory expectations.”
